School Nurse
Tomi Harris, BSN, RN, CRRN
Tomi Harris graduated from Clayton State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2012. Much of her nursing career primarily focused on Brain Injury Rehab and Neuroscience.
Tomi has lived in Oconee County for the past 10 years. She is married to her high school love and they have two children, Eli (10) & Eva (5). Tomi is a mother to a child with allergies, so she understands the level of trust that is passed when your child is out of your care. Maintaining your child’s health and well-being so they are at their best when learning is a privilege.
Here are a few health guidelines to be aware of:
· Please make sure your child eats a healthy, balanced breakfast each morning to fuel them for their day.
· If your child has a temperature greater than 100.3 degrees, please keep them home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without medication.
· If your child becomes ill at school (i.e. vomiting, diarrhea), I will ask you to arrange pick-up until symptoms free for 24 hours without medication.
· If you have found and/or treated lice in you child’s hair, please notify me. This will allow me to monitor others in the classroom and discreetly re-check as needed.
· Medication administration in school should be discouraged unless medically necessary for the student’s health, safety, and optimal learning. When possible, medications should be given at home, before or after school.
· If your child must have medication of any type (including topicals, prescribed and over the counter medications) during school hours, an Administration of Medication or Authorize to Carry form must be obtained, completed, and returned to the clinic.
· Please remember to update any change in medical information or emergency contacts in Infinite Campus as this aids in the care for your child.
